Vintage Susan Portra Ellie Elephant Needlepoint Canvas Cal Mar 226 w Guide

An absolutely charming vintage Susan Portra Ellie Elephant needlepoint project from the Minimals series by Cal Mar Designs, pattern #226.  This unusual set includes two coordinating elephant designs, each the same size and silhouette but painted with completely different patterns. One Ellie combines tiny pink florals, blue plaid and aqua latticework, while the other mixes soft floral sprigs with crisp navy, aqua and metallic-gold geometric stripes. Both have wonderful oversized charcoal-gray ears that give the elephants their unmistakably sweet Minimals look.  The pair was designed to be finished together as a two-sided elephant pillow, but I especially love the idea of finishing them separately as a coordinating pair of wall hangings. Because the silhouettes match while the patterns differ, they would look fantastic framed side by side in a nursery, children's room or whimsical vintage-inspired space.
