Description
While the ideal sowing period for harvesting the grain is October-November, it's also fine to sow in spring if using it as green manure (to be tilled in without heading) or as mulch. If sowing in autumn, the seeds will germinate without issue for several years if stored in the vegetable crisper of your refrigerator.
---
These are new seeds harvested in 2025 from organically grown, pesticide-free wheat.
Sowing is in autumn, but please prepare them at your convenience.

The awns (thorn-like hairs) are long and prominent, so I've used them for ornamental purposes. This year, I acquired a small stone mill and also used the wheat for food by milling it into flour.
It seems to be a variety leaning towards soft flour, but I'm not entirely sure.
While it might be difficult for a typical household to mill large quantities, the grains separate very easily from the heads, making it simple to extract the whole wheat kernels.
I think it would be fun to experience removing the grains from the heads before they become flour, perhaps with children.

Besides culinary use, the heads can be used as dried flower material, and the grains can also be used as pet food.
You can also use them as seeds for next year's straw utilization.
Please also use them for natural farming mulch.

***While you often see rice paddies, opportunities to see wheat cultivation are rare, so wouldn't it be interesting to grow and observe it with children? It's easier to grow than rice as it doesn't require flooding.

Photo 1: Seeds - 300 seeds = approx. 11g. We are including 300+ seeds in a 12g package.
Like barley, until the grain develops, it looks almost like a weed, so please be careful not to mistake it for one and weed it out.

Photo 2: Wheat heads - tip section
Due to sunlight, harvest time, or genetic factors, there are heads of both light and dark colors. The grains are formed similarly in both.

Photo 3: Comparison of dried specimens
The two on the left are barley, and the one on the right is the wheat head from this listing. Like barley, if harvested and dried while the heads are still green, you can create dried green heads. The straw can also be used as garden mulch.

Photos 4-6: I tried milling with a stone mill
Since it's a small mill, about 10kg capacity, I milled it several times to get the flour. The children enjoyed it too.
The white powder is the so-called flour part, and the brown part is the bran.

Sowing period: Around October-November
Harvest period: Following May-June (for seed collection, harvest after it turns brown)

Please make use of them.
