Vintage Masonic Shriners Vintage Tie Clips, Lot of Two Estate Jewelry

These items are vintage Masonic Shriners tie clips.  Left: A gold-toned tie clip in the shape of a fez hat with the organization's logo, Shriner's emblem: a scimitar above a crescent moon and a star.  Right: The darker metal tie clip marked SAN FRANCISCO and ISLAM.  The gold-toned Masonic Shriner tie clasp is shaped like a fez hat. It features the iconic Shriner emblem : a scimitar above a crescent moon and a star. This specific design often denotes a Potentate role within the Shriners organization, with similar vintage examples dating to 1965.  Despite the name Moslem, on the darker tie clasp, the organization is a non-religious fraternity and has no connection to Islam. The Shriners adopted Middle Eastern themes (like the fez and names like Moslem or Aladdin) in the late 19th century bprimarily for theatrical and social flair. Today, they are best known for their network of children's hospitals.  The name of Fred R. Morrison Sr. is stamped on the back of the bright gold tie clasp. He was a prominent member of the Moslem Shrine in Detroit, Michigan, serving as the Potentate in 1967. Records also indicate a Fred R. Morrison Jr. held the same position in 1977. They were leading members of this Shriners International chapter, a fraternity based on Masonic principles.   Bundle with other treasures in my closet to take advantage of discounted shipping.
